El martes 23 de enero fueron anunciadas las nominaciones para los 90 Premios de la Academia anuales, en un evento anunciado por Tiffany Haddish y Andy Serkis,  junto con el presidente de la Academia John Bailey, desde el Teatro Samuel Goldwyn de la Academia.

Se informó que Jimmy Kimmel regresará como anfitrión de los Premios de la Academia, que se llevan a cabo en el Dolby Theatre en Hollywood & Highland Center en Hollywood. ABC transmitirá el programa en vivo el domingo 4 de marzo.

Meryl Streep sigue figurando como la actriz con mayor número de nomicaciones a los premios de la Academia, con un total de 21 postulaciones. Para la ocasión está nominada como Mejor Actriz por el drama de Steven Spielberg The Post.

The Shape of Water, de Guillermo del Toro, lidera los Oscar 2018 con 13 nominaciones. Dunkirk, con ocho candidaturas y Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, con siete, son las principales rivales.
